Live Stream Gone Wrong?

If you follow us on Instagram you may have seen Made Collective's first live stream video a couple of weeks ago.  Steph and I thought it would be fun to introduce ourselves and talk about why each product is part of our collection.  Then we would save the live stream to our Instagram profile for one and all to enjoy.

Things we decided before starting the live feed:

  • Unscripted - let's wing it because we don't want to just read a script
  • No Babysitter - let's keep it real and have the kids around
  • Rough Plan - decide who would talk about which product

In hindsight these were perhaps not the best decisions because fun turned to funny very quickly. Shortly after we started the live stream, Steph's young boys needed snacks, cuddles and wanted to play outside.  We also forgot who was talking about which product and as the video went on we couldn't remember which products we had already talked about.  The no script thing went OK but we discovered we are both prone to rambling.

We decided not to sweat it because it was our first live stream effort and no one really watches those anyway right?  Wrong!  Throughout the day we both received texts from friends and family about how awesome and real it was.  At first I translated that to mean unprofessional but the truth is Made Collective started with a rough plan.  Steph and I are not following a script and we are learning and adjusting as we go.  And we have built this business with our children present - literally in the room while work and meetings are happening.  It may be unconventional but not unprofessional.

So yes, Made Collective is fun and at times funny.  And we wouldn't have it any other way.  True to form we forgot to save the live stream within the allotted 24 hour time frame so it has disappeared forever.  Don't worry, we are going to give it another shot soon!
